Physical chemistry, chemical physics, biological chemistry, materials chemistry and nanotechnol­ogy. Ultrafast laser spectroscopy of condensed mat­ter, including liquids, solids, polymers, glasses, biological molecules and nanoparticles. Nonlinear optical processes, and time-resolved vibrational and surface spectroscopy. Multidimensional vibra­tional spectroscopy. Vibrational dynamics and vibra­tional energy transfer. Shock waves in molecu­lar materials: fundamental mechanisms and their applications to materials science and medi­cine. Energetic materials and nanoenergetic materi­als. Laser-material processes used in high speed imaging. Time-resolved microscopy. High speed mechanical processes such as material fail­ure and lubrication.
