PhD Harbin Institute of Technology (2009) B.S. Shenyang University of Technology liuwl@hit.edu.cn Weilong Liu grew up in the northeast of China, born in Jilin Province, obtained the B.S. degree in Physics at Shenyang University of Technology in Liaoning Province, and obtained the Ph.D. degree in Optics at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in Heilongjiang Province. In his Ph.D. thesis work, he focused on the absorption, Raman, and femtosecond time-resolved transient absorption spectra of carotenoids under quasi-hydrostatic pressure. The effects of solvent, pressure, and molecular structure on the potential energy surface, energy internal conversion process, and vibrational spectroscopic characteristics of carotenoids were analyzed by using of some novel models as well as DFT calculations. After obtained the Ph.D. degree in 2009, he became a lecturer in Department of Physics at HIT where he teaches College Physics Experiments to undergraduate students. Weilong joined the DDD group in June, 2013 as a Visiting Scholar. He is working on the fluorescence and IR absorption spectra of dyes and polymers under shock wave. This work is going to reveal the shock effects on the fluorescence and IR absorption spectra of some interesting molecules when excited by femtosecond laser.
